    Pork Sausage
I'm having a deja vu moment..I know I saw this topic covered in here, but I can't find it....SO I'm going to re-ask and hope that [info]cooking in it's infinite patience will grace me with some ideas & possibly links to recipes!

I have a bunch of homemade pork sausage. And aside from just grilling it and eating it with peppers and onions....what can I do with it?

Can you hit me with some recipes/ideas/links on what you would do with a bunch of really yummy pork sausage? O

    Thanks so much!!

    Asian side dishes?

This is my first post here so please let me know if it needs to be altered.

I am VERY new to cooking but am really trying my best to learn. My biggest problem is coming up with sides that match the main dishes.

Tonight I am attempting to make Thai Chicken and Vegetable Curry for the first time, but I don' t know what to make with it. I looked for recipes for wanton or egg drop soup but all the reviews made it seem rather difficult to get the correct consistency.

Does anyone have any other ideas that might work with this. The recipe  (from Eating Well.com) is behind the cut to give you an idea.

If nothing else I can do frozen egg rolls with it, but I'd really like to do something nice. Thanks for you help!

    Rice in a crockpot?
Today of all days (my long day at work) my boys want red beans and rice. I'm won't be getting home until 9:30 tonight.
Can I cook rice in a crock pot with success? I googled it, and there an equal number of "yes you can" and "don't you dare" answers.

    Thanks

    Creative bake sale packaging?
Sorry for the text only post. I'm running out of energy and inspiration. Next week is a charity bake sale that I'll be participating in. I'm not sure how many gourmet cookies I'll donate--there probably won't be any decorated ones--but I'd like a creative way to present them. Does anyone have any ideas? Links and photos are really, really appreciated.

ETA: I do not want to individually vacuum seal them.

From the Little Kids Table (Now with extra Meta!)
Childfree, woman has septuplets, fish, barrel.

A member posts an article about a woman in Egypt who have septuplets because of fertility drugs, when she was trying to have a son, which brought her children count up to ten. The parents are asking for an apartment to live in closer to their doctors. (They currently live in a two room mud hut.)

Surprisingly, most people comment about how it's not the parents fault they had seven kids, and whatnot. But there's always that ONE person.

[info]legman666 : How about an apartment close to the RIVER so you can drown the babies when you realize you cannot possibly care for them all?

ETA: Suddenly, meta! A shitload of it!

    Art theft is Trash?
Hi, long time lurker first time poster. Well anyway over in [info]deviantartsnark [info]soynda brings to the table art theft. However that is not where the stupid lies. the stupid lies with a comment made by [info]jiveturkeyblues :

basically, because all of the people crying and yelling about their pictures of link making out put into a youtube slideshow are embarrassing. and are taking this "art theft" trash waaay too far.

annoying 15 year-old she may be, but i'm glad someone is telling these losers to chill out.

I have a work "thing" on Friday. We are having a potluck "appetizer" day where we will be essentially grazing on appetizers throughout the day. I am making mini cheesecakes but I'd like to bring something else as well (not a dessert) so I'm looking for ideas.

Preferably something easy and inexpensive. It also needs to be able to either be served cold or room temp as all we have are microwaves and they are on the other side of the building.

    Help please!?

    Launch Issue & Stickers Question
Hello! I'm new to this community (this LJ one and the zine one in general), and I'm starting a zine called TIGER FIGHT!

For the launch issue, I plan on including a free sticker and was wondering if anyone had any idea where to start with that? I've seen a few sticker making machines online for a reasonable price and wasn't sure if that was the best way to go about it. I'm also new to Portland, OR ... so if there are sticker printing places out there, I'm not yet aware of them.

    Here's a sneak peek ...

TIGER FIGHT! zine is mostly visual, heavy on the drawing and illustration side. Each issue, the tiger will "fight" an animal, and the theme that month will somehow reflect that. The launch issue is Tiger vs. Tiger, making the theme duality, twinning, doubles, shadows, bizarros, etc.

Hi all, sorry to spam with two posts in one day, but this time I have a question.

I got a half a yard of super amazing awesome-sauce dinosaur fabric at the store today, and after making my ball jointed doll a little blanket, i'll have a lot of fabric left over.

I am in LOVE with this fabric and I was wondering if anybody had ideas of interesting things I could do with the rest? I dont really have any books I could cover, and making something like a pillow seems like such a waste. I also dont want to make a stuffed dinosaur because I really just dont need one.

I'd love to come up with something that would allow me to keep the fabric close to me...I wish I had bought enough to make a tiny little throw-blanket for myself but I didnt.

Currently its draped over the top of my head just because.

    Any ideas crafty-chics?

Sourdough Rye in under a day
    And problem solved!

I added maybe 1/4 a cup of bread flour to the mix (it was done by feel rather than weight so I can't be precise. A few more times and I'll modify the percentages of my take to include this). And I did this in the middle of a Hurricane Fay induced Georgia rainstorm no less (I baked instead of going to class in the nightmare combo of weather and traffic).

My one lamentation is the thickness of the crust. I overshot the mark from crisp and went straight to hard as a week old baguette. This tells me there was actually too much vapor action, and considering I pulled out a trifecta of techniques to cultivate that, I really don't know why I'm surprised.

    a zine about diabetes
I made a new zine, the first zine I've made in a long, long time:

As I'm getting older, I find I have more and more things to worry about. Worry Stone is a zine about some of those worries, written both to clarify my thoughts and to ease my mind. This first issue is about living with a partner who has type 1 diabetes. I talk about how diabetes has affected his life -- and our lives together -- as well as share some info about the disease and the myriad of complications it can cause. You can view a couple of sample pages over at my journal. 24p, xtra-small (quarter-size), b&w.

    New to the community :)
I live in a house that is split in two apartments, and the main kitchen is upstairs (with my mom). Downstairs I have a kitchen-ette, complete with mini fridge, microwave, blender, and sink.

With those items, what are some meals I would be able to cook? I've never really cooked before, and my mom works nights so she sleeps during the day and cooking in the main kitchen wakes her up. Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks :O)

    Chocolate cake recipe
My birthday is this weekend, and I'm looking for a very specific type of chocolate cake to celebrate it with.

I want something very moist and dark, and very dense - but a spongy dense, NOT a flourless cake kind of dense. Does that make any sense? I want it cakey, not fudgy, but still moist and dense.

Any ideas? My two usual chocolate cake recipes are pretty light and fluffy, and they're awesome, but not what I'm in the mood for this time. I'd call it devil's food cake, but the last devil's food cake recipe I tried was also fairly light and fluffy, so I'm not sure that's the right name.

ETA: Wow, thanks for the many suggestions! I'll have to bookmark this post so I can try them all in the future! I'm glad my description made sense to at least a few people, I know it might be a little vague - but I've had cakes like that from bakeries, just never homemade! Now to decide which will be my birthday cake...

    Appetizers!
    Ok folks,

My family is very much of the One Course variety, so my repertoire of appetizers is really pathetic. CHEESE AND CRACKERS! BRING IT ON! *ahem*

Anyway, any creative ideas for a minimal-ingredient-creative-beyond-cheese-and-crackers appetizer?

Also, I opened a can of Chipotle peppers in adobo. What on earth do I do with the rest? Separate them out into baggies and freeze them?

Oooh! Bonus points for an appetizer with chipotles in it. HA!

In return, I offer up the recipe I used the original chipotle for (courtesy of Emeril)

    Chipotle Mayonnaise:
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons mayonnaise (I am a wuss. I added more mayo to cut the heat after the fact)
1 chipotle pepper in adobo, seeds removed and roughly chopped (about 2 teaspoons)
    2 teaspoons adobo sauce
    1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/8 teaspoon dried crushed oregano
Place all of the ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend on high until smooth, about 30 seconds. Transfer to a clean container and refrigerate until ready to use or serve.

I have been using this on EVERYTHING. Egg sandwiches, chicken quesadillas (instead of sour cream)...

    Thanks!

Earlier today my mom and I went out and she spotted a shirt she really liked, but it was too much for either of us to afford. So instead of buying the top, we went to the craft section and bought 2 yards of fabric from the dollar bin. Then after we came home I made her an ADORABLE top! Here is the end result. The entire thing was made with no pattern and lots of luck. =3 I haven't sewn anything human sized in about 6 years!

    Soup!
Okay, very random, but I was watching Scrubs and the janitor was eating soup, and now I must make soup tonight!!

What are your favorite kinds of soups to make? Preferably un-creamy.

(I know I request that a lot but my boyfriend HATES cream cheese, sour cream, anything creamy and he'll only eat cheese if it's on a sandwich.)

    TIA! :)
